Roughly three weeks after teasing new music, Alicia Keys has delivered. The singer-songwriter dropped her latest single, “In Common,” Tuesday night, flaunting a fresh sound and heartbreaking lyrics. “Look at you, look what you made me do,” she says. “If you could love somebody like me, you must be messed up too.” The nostalgic song showcases a poppier shift from Keys’s classic R&B stylings, with a more understated vocal approach and trendy Caribbean vibes. “In Common” comes almost four years after Keys’s last studio album, Girl on Fire, and only a few days before her SNL performance.
