Looks like the Doc is in (a series of seemingly life-threatening scenarios that he inevitably escapes due to his staggering intellect). This morning, Dwayne Johnson alerted the good people of Instagram that he has officially signed on as the titular character in Sony Pictures’ Doc Savage, a film about a fictional scientist/adventurer whose journeys thrilled pulp-magazine fans in the ’30s and ’40s. Iron Man 3 director and writer Shane Black will helm the film, as well as pen the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry. According to Johnson’s Instagram, the movie will play will the idea that, for all his superintelligence and physical training, Clark “Doc” Savage Jr. is not so much with the people skills. “He is literally the master of everything. But here’s the #1 reason I’m excited to become Doc Savage..HE’S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO! Confidently, yet innocently he has zero social graces whatsoever due to his upbringing so every interaction he has with someone is direct, odd, often uncomfortable and amazingly hilarious,” he raves. In other words, be sure to have your quip levels checked by an authorized physician before viewing.
