Kit Harington Is Very Sorry for Lying to You About Jon Snow

For months, Kit Harington has been in the awkward position of having to lie to literally everyone he’s met about Jon Snow’s return to Game of Thrones. But now that Snow Watch 2016 has ended — not with a bang, but with a gasp! — Harington is now able to speak freely about Jon’s fate. In an interview with EW, one of the outlets that was most enthusiastic in spreading his lies, the actor sounds very contrite about pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes. “Sorry!,” he says, in a video excerpt. “I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone.” But Harington does reveal there was an upside to the disinformation campaign: It made him realize how much the death affected people. “I’m glad that people were upset that he died,” he admits. “I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a … kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.” Cliffhangers — the one thing Jon Snow knows.
