Kesha Covered Bob Dylan’s ‘I Shall Be Released’ at Dylan Fest Last Night

In honor of Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday today, Kesha has been giving the music icon a weeklong tribute. On Sunday, she performed her powerhouse version of “It Ain’t Me, Babe” at the Billboard Music Awards after having to fight Dr. Luke’s label to get there. Then on Monday night, she surprised Dylan Fest in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium with yet another Dylan cover, this one with a hugely significant title: “I Shall Be Released,” which features lyrics like “I see my light come shining / From the west unto the east / Any day now, any day how / I shall be released.” Given Kesha’s ongoing legal battle with producer Dr. Luke to be released from her recording contract, these lyrics sound like a wish the pop star is certainly hoping comes true.
