The stand-up/reality hybrid New York’s Funniest has a simple but daunting premise: to find the most outstanding rising comedian in New York City. Over the course of the season, more than 100 stand-ups competed for the title, putting it all out on the stage at the legendary Caroline’s in New York City.

Here’s a look at a few of the standout comedians that appeared on New York’s Funniest.
Sara Armour
Armour competed on Last Comic Standing in 2015 and was a featured comedian at the New York Comedy Festival, in between stints on the “Betches of Comedy” tour. She’s also an honest to goodness life coach who helps people realize their full creative potential.
Matt Pavich
The creator and star of the popular web series The Neighborhood, Pavich currently stars on MTV2’s improve game show Joking Off. Fun fact: he also went to the high school that inspired the movie Fame, which is pretty crazy.
Anthony DeVito
DeVito has appeared on The Jim Gaffigan Show, performed on Adam Devine’s House Party, and is a regular panelist on Red Eye. With New York’s Funniest, DeVito is defending his turf, of sorts—in 2015 he won the Caroline’s Comedy Madness Stand-up Tournament.
Charles Gould
Named a 2015 “Comic to Watch” by Comedy Central, he’s the creator and star of the web series “Charles, by the Way.” Because he’s a performer who’s lived in New York for a while, he once had a guest spot on Law & Order.
Nimesh Patel
Every Monday night he performs in the long running show “New York City Broken Comedy” at Bar Matchless and he’s appeared in a bunch of College Humor videos, too.
