Michu Meszaros, the actor who played the alien Alf in the 1980s sitcom of the same name, has died at the age of 76, TMZ reports. According to his manager, Meszaros had been in a coma since being found unresponsive at his home last week. The Hungary native, who stood two feet, nine inches tall, was once billed as “The Shortest Man on Earth;” he donned the Alf costume in full-body shots of the iconic alien. (Alf’s voice was provided by Paul Fusco.) Besides his role on the NBC series, Meszaros was a longtime performer with the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus, and was friends with the late Michael Jackson. Michu Lane, the shortest street in the Los Angeles community of Hawthorne, is named for the late star.
