Freida Pinto is making a jump to the small screen. Joining the already-confirmed Idris Elba, Pinto will be headlining the Showtime–Sky Atlantic six-part mini-series Guerrilla, which follows a couple, Jas and Marcus, whose “passion propels them into making the leap from political activism to radical militancy” in 1970s London. Pinto will play the aforementioned Jas, with the role of Marcus yet to be cast. (Elba will be executive producing and co-starring in an unnamed role, with John Ridley writing, directing, and executive producing as well.) As the mini-series progresses, the couple’s “relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell,” with their ultimate target becoming the “Black Power Desk, a true-life, secretive counter-intelligence unit within Special Branch dedicated to crushing all forms of black activism.” The series will begin production in London this summer.
