It’s like when the Teddy Bears have their picnic, but with better music and no one has to eat buttons or whatever. After enjoying nine years as a Philadelphia institution, the Roots Picnic will be bringing its checkered blankets and wicker baskets to Bryant Park on October 1 and 2. Curated by the Roots, the New York edition of the festival kicks off the first evening with headliners D’Angelo and John Mayer, while October 2’s “Love Letter to New York” features Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne, and Nile Rodgers, all of which means Bryant Park is going to be absolutely packed. Black Thought better start making his famous award-winning potato salad now!
