Donatella Versace Debuted Prince Songs From Her Private Collection for a Runway Show

Donatella Versace treated Milan Fashion Week to a small dose of Minnesota when she used unreleased Prince songs during the Versace Menswear show. In an interview with Billboard, Versace revealed that Prince, who she counted among her closest friends, gave her many songs over the years because “it was his way of communicating.” Way to make us feel bad about the emoji-filled texts we use to communicate with our besties, Prince. The designer dipped into her private music collection for the occasion to “express my love and admiration for my friend who I miss so much,” and later added, “The biggest tribute you can pay to him is to play his music, and to keep his memory alive.” It also probably wasn’t a coincidence that many of the styles in the collection are a dark-purple shade, including a few dramatic jackets that would have looked great over a blouse on the basketball court.
