The Strokes’ Video for ‘Drag Queen’ Is Like an Old 1980s VHS Laced With LSD and Booze

The Strokes’ new single “Drag Queen” is a thrumming four-minute descent into the nocturnal nascence of New York in the 1980s. “Eighties people dancing,” Julian Casablancas croons, “Always get it right.” The new video has a VHS look, its vertical image festooned with tracking lines and neon lights flashing salaciously. You almost expect Max Headroom to make an appearance.
