Pierre Morel, the director of Taken who brought us the cultural gem that is Liam Neeson's "If you let my daughter go now" monologue, has signed on to helm another thriller, hopefully with equally meme-able moments. Big Stone Grid, scribed by Bone Tomahawk writer S. Craig Zahler, follows metropolitan detectives taking on serial killers. When it was first purchased by Sony in 2011, the script was described as being "in the vein of Seven." The script has since gone into turnaround, and is now being produced by Lotus Entertainment.
Last year, Morel helmed The Gunman, featuring Sean Penn and Idris Elba, and has been busy on the television side of things, directing the pilots for NBC's The Night Shift and Lifetime's Clan of the Cave Bear adaptation (which did not go forward). Morel is also attached to direct a small-screen retelling of the life of William the Conqueror.
