Good news for Arrowheads: Your boy John Barrowman just got a major promotion. Barrowman, who plays Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer on Arrow, has just been promoted to series regular across all Greg Berlanti-executive-produced CW superhero shows. So, you know, all CW superhero shows. Prior to this announcement, Barrowman’s Merlyn recurred on the first two seasons of Arrow, before being promoted to series regular in season three. In season four, Barrowman also appeared in an episode of The Flash. In accordance with his new cross-series deal, Barrowman can be expected to regularly appear on the aforementioned shows, as well as Legends of Tomorrow and recent CW transplant Supergirl. If this deal sounds familiar, it’s because it’s basically the same deal that Wentworth Miller struck with Warner Bros. in May to play his Legends of Tomorrow character Leonard Snart across the CW/DC/Berlanti-verse. Here’s hoping Miller and Barrowman acquire actual superpowers in the near future, because it sounds like it’s going to take comic-book-character stamina to keep up with these behemoth deals.
