Lady Gaga Covers the Beatles and Neil Young at a DNC Event

While Katy Perry was busy performing her Olympic anthem “Rise” for her old pal “Hilly” at the Democratic National Convention’s finale last night, one state over Lady Gaga was putting on a show of her own. At a free, invite-only event for DNC delegates in Camden, New Jersey, called “Camden Rising,” Gaga performed a mix of covers — the Beatles’ “Come Together,” Neil Young’s “Old Man,” Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile,” Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” Cher’s “Bang Bang,” Phil Ochs’s “The War Is Over” — plus her hits, “Bad Romance,” “Born This Way,” and “You and I.” She was introduced by New Jersey senator Cory Booker, while the Obamas, Clintons, and Bidens were all reportedly invited. Lenny Kravitz, who played at the DNC on Wednesday night, also performed at “Camden Rising.” No press was allowed at the event, but luckily fans with phones were! Watch footage of her many covers above and below.
