Melissa Harris-Perry is headed back to TV screens nationwide: The former MSNBC host and current Elle.com editor-at-large will join BET News this summer as a special correspondent, the network has announced. She’ll first co-anchor both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions at the end of July alongside Marc Lamont Hill. After that, Harris-Perry will host and contribute to other BET News programs and develop longform news specials. This will be her first time back on TV as a political analyst since her contentious departure from MSNBC in February, following a leaked email alleging the network had planned to cut her show from election coverage. Last Friday, BET partnered with MTV for a live-streamed and simulcast town hall on police brutality.
