Tracey Wigfield’s NBC series Great News has recast one of its leading roles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Richie has joined the project, which NBC ordered to series in May. Great News follows “a mother-daughter relationship that is challenged when an overly involved New Jersey mom (Andrea Martin) interns at her daughter’s (Briga Heelan) workplace, a cable news network.” Richie will play Portia, the co-host of the fictional cable news show The Breakdown who is described as “sometimes a shrewd social media genius, sometimes a clueless idiot.” Kimrie Lewis-Davis was previously attached to the role, while Martin, Heelan, and John Michael Higgins are all still attached to star.
