If most of mainstream media won’t spare you a headline, you write your own. That’s the premise of Young Thug’s video for “Memo,” one of the best songs of the year, off the ridiculously prolific rapper’s Slime Season 3 mixtape. Because few rappers are having a bigger, better year than Thugger, and, dammit, he’d like a little recognition. Just a few highlights (literally) you might’ve missed: money, championing gender fluidity for Calvin Klein, making his SNL debut with Kanye West, more money, buying houses and cars for all ten of his siblings, having his breakthrough hit “Best Friend” go platinum, reuniting with Gucci Mane, and did we mention money? Kanye would approve.
