A United Kingdom Trailer: David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike Find Love in a Hopeless Time and Place

Based on the lives of Botswana's first president Seretse Khama and his British wife Ruth Williams Kahama, A United Kingdom stars David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike and has a narrative so moving you'll almost forget Pike murdered a dude in Gone Girl. The film, from Amma Asante, the director of Belle, tells the story of a rare interracial romance in 1940s England, and the way it played into Botswana's independence movement. The film is a passion project for Oyelowo, who convinced Pike to join the film by sending her photos of Seretse and Ruth, presumably after watching her deliver the "cool girl" speech and thinking "yeah, that woman's worth a whole kingdom." The film debuts in the U.K. in November.
