The Rock is a king, and the rest of us are just candy-asses. According to Forbes’ calculations, Dwayne Johnson earned $64.5 million this year, making him 2016’s highest-paid actor. That’s thanks to his very busy year (have you seen his Instagram?) making deals for Central Intelligence, Fast 8, and Baywatch and riding high on the earnings of San Andreas. In second place is Jackie Chan with $61 million, who has made much of his money by working on Chinese films, followed by Matt Damon with $55 million, a fraction of the money spent saving him in The Martian. Tom Cruise clung onto the list like it was a plane taking off at number four with $53 million, while Johnny Depp took fifth with $48 million ($7 million of which is now going to charity, thanks to Amber Heard). All of those paydays land above that of Forbes’ highest-paid actress Jennifer Lawrence, who earned $46 million, because, yes, the world sucks. Page through Forbes’ list here and gaze upon all the very handsome, talented, and very lucky men who are not you.
