The closer a language was to English, the less work needed to be done — Germany used “Halte das Tor,” or “hold the gate” — but other versions required elegant workarounds. In Turkish, the phrase became “Orada dur” (“Stay there”), while the French broadcast went with “Qu’ils n’ailent pas au-dors,” which means “Don’t let them get outside.” Dang, who knew Hodor spoke so many languages?
