Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam Join Showtime Pilots ‘White Famous’ and ‘Mating’

It hasn’t even been a week since news broke that Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam will not be returning to SNL next season, and now the two already have new TV projects in the works. According to Entertainment Weekly, the SNL alums have been cast in two comedy pilots in the works at Showtime. Pharoah will star in White Famous, a Jamie Foxx-produced pilot that was ordered back in June that follows “a talented, young African-American comedian whose star is rising, forcing him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility as he begins to cross-over toward becoming ‘white famous.’”

Meanwhile, Killam will star in the comedy anthology series Mating, which Showtime ordered to pilot in February from Friday Night Lights’ Jason Katims and The Americans’ Stu Zicherman. The show will feature a different protagonist each season, with Killam starring as “a freshly divorced guy who got married at a young age and is now trying to navigate a much-changed, complicated dating world.”
