John Oliver and Keegan-Michael Key Make You a Car Deal You Can Absolutely Refuse

John Oliver, continuing his one-man mission to stop big businesses from systematically screwing over the little guy (see: medical debt, retirement plans), took on the used-car market during Sunday’s Last Week Tonight. After diving into all the ways subprime auto borrowers overcharge the country’s poorest people, give folks with bad credit even more money problems, and repossess cars with babies still sitting in the back seat (really), Oliver made an honest commercial for one of these predatory dealers. With the help of Keegan-Michael Key and some cowboy hats, the two attempted to lasso you in with promises of a “pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre owned 2003 Kia Optima” that has four wheels, an engine, and a beeping device that will sound if you’re ever late on your ridiculously high payment, which you will be.
