Get your straw hat.

Because Netflix knows there's always room in your heart for more pigtails, it has picked up a new TV adaptation of Anne of Green Gables that's being produced by Canada's CBC. The new series, dubbed Anne, comes from an all-female team, with writer Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad), producer Miranda de Pencier (Beginners), and director Niki Caro (Whale Rider), who will helm the two-hour premiere. Anne's first season will include eight one-hour episodes, and go live on Netflix and the CBC in 2017. Like previous CBC adaptations, it will also expand beyond the scope of Lucy Maud Montgomery's novel, "including themes of identity, sexism, bullying, prejudice, and trusting one’s self." If they do anything terrible to Gilbert Blythe, so help us all.
