To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Carl Sandburg’s Chicago Poems, New York musician David Nagler decided to set 16 of the volume’s poems to music, calling on folky friends like Robbie Fulks, Sally Timms, and Kelly Hogan to help out with the studio recording. Vulture is pleased to premiere the first song released from the album, “Theme in Yellow,” with vocals from none other than Jeff Tweedy. The Sandburg poem may be about Halloween, but the hazy, relaxed vibe is equally fitting for the dog days of late summer. Enjoy!
