Nick Viall is determined to find love, and this time he is not messing around. After being the runner-up on two seasons of The Bachelorette, ABC announced that Nick will be the next Bachelorreports The Hollywood Reporter. Shocked fans received the news on Tuesday’s After Paradise, the after-show for Bachelor in Paradise. While the Bachelor usually picks a fan-favorite from The Bachelorette, this came as a surprise to everyone, and most were probably betting on Luke Pell, who came in fourth during Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher’s recent season. However, the choice to cast Nick certainly ignores the franchise’s lack of diversity. Out of all 20 seasons of The Bachelor, there has been one diverse star: American-born Venezuelan Juan Pablo Galavis. Hopefully, we’ll begin to see some changes soon. After all, if UnREAL’s show-within-a-show Everlasting can do it, so can The Bachelor. Season 21 of The Bachelor airs in December on ABC.
