Man’s battle with machine is nonstop. Even though he’s stepped away from Hamilton and is busy with about 15 million other projects, Lin-Manuel Miranda continues his valiant crusade against ticket bots, which snatch up theater seats and sell them back at extreme prices to the rest of us normals. Bots are illegal in New York, but at a press conference last night, Miranda and Sen. Chuck Schumer teamed up to raise support for a federal bill that would assign a task force to investigate the owners of these bots, and also introduce a $16,000 fine for each resold ticket. Then, upon hearing word that London’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is suffering a bot infestation of its own, Miranda raced to a telephone booth, did a quick change into superhero gear, and jetted off to the next site of theatrical injustice.
