There was a film, a very strange enchanted film. They say it wandered very far, very far, until one day … someone decided it should be a musical. Yes, Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 movie musical Moulin Rouge! is being developed for the stage, Global Creatures announced today. Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher) will direct the project from a book by John Logan (Red). The show is early on in development, and the project’s timeline and opening venue, as well as the size of and relative grandeur of the elephant from which characters will belt their solos, are all yet to be announced.
