Contrary to popular belief, Rooney Mara is capable of producing noise, whether through her vocal chords or by means of an instrument, when she chooses to. That is why the Girl With a Dragon Tattoo actress is the perfect choice to play a world-famous pop star in Brady Corbet’s (The Childhood of a Leader) new film Vox Dux. The film tracks the journey of a singer called Celeste (why not Therese?) from 1999 to the present, and will look “at the major cultural evolutions of the 21st century through her eyes.” Fellow mysterious person Sia will provide original songs for the film’s soundtrack. This would be Mara’s second major music-related project, as she has long been involved with Terrence Malick’s Austin-music-scene film, though who knows if or when that project will hit theaters. (Rooney Mara, probably; Rooney Mara knows all.)
