This Deeply ’80s Deleted X-Men: Apocalypse Mall Scene Is Totally Radical

Hey, remember the ‘80s? Bryan Singer does! The director set his May superhero flick X-Men: Apocalypse in that heady decade, but honestly, the odds and ends of the 1980s didn’t play much of a role in the film. Luckily, a deleted scene has emerged that bathes itself in period-piece tropes. It follows four mutant teens — Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee — as they traverse a mall and get into kooky high jinks involving arcade games, slushies, and break-dancing, all set to the dulcet tones of Men Without Hats’ “The Safety Dance.” Real talk: It’s better than most of the actual movie. Watch and let the kitsch overtake you.
