According to the law of large numbers, if two people don’t stop making movies and television, eventually they have to collaborate. In this case, those actors are Sarah Paulson (who just won her first Emmy for The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and Mark Duplass, and the collaboration is Blue Jay, a black-and-white feature about two friends from high school who reconnect. Written by Duplass and directed by Alex Lehmann, this is the first installment of Duplass’s four-picture deal with Netflix, and it is just as mumbly as you might expect. Blue Jay comes to theaters October 7, to VOD October 11, and Netflix soon after that.
