Tap Into the Lynchian Psyche With the Trailer for David Lynch: The Art Life

Take a look, sonny. You don’t have to wait until 2017 for Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival to be immersed in the world of David Lynch, because the first trailer for David Lynch: The Art Life has arrived to coincide with its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The Jon Nguyen–directed documentary provides an intimate, dark look into the auteur’s rural upbringing and enigmatic early films mostly through archival footage and Lynch’s paintings — with Lynch himself narrating the vast importance of those formative years. “I think every time you do something, sometimes the past can conjure those ideas,” he says. “In those days, my world was no bigger than a couple of blocks. Huge worlds are in those two blocks.” A U.S., Black Lodge, or White Lodge release date has yet to be set.
