Shed a Single Tear for the Looming Apocalypse With Death Cab for Cutie’s Anti-Trump Song ‘Million Dollar Loan’

If this election season has plunged you into a deep depression best accompanied by mournful gazes out windows and emo music, you’re in luck: Death Cab for Cutie has a new song about Donald Trump, and as you might expect, it doesn’t paint the Republican presidential nominee in a positive light. “Million Dollar Loan” takes Trump to task for famously proclaiming himself a self-made billionaire despite the fact that he started his business with a $1 million loan from his father. “Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being president of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for,” Death Cab front man Ben Gibbard writes in the song’s description. “He is beneath us.” “Million Dollar Loan” is the first installment in Dave Eggers’s “30 Days 30 Songs” anti-Trump project, which sees a different artist release a new song each day leading up to the far-right paramilitary coup November 8 election.
