The forthcoming The Good Wife spinoff just got a little bit more awesome: Deadline reports that the series, which will air on CBS All Access, the network’s live-streaming service, has added Bernadette Peters as a recurring character — she’ll play the mother of Rose Leslie’s character, Maia. This means that the fabulous redhead count on the spinoff is at least two, not to mention Paul Guilfoyle (CSI), who has been added as Maia’s father and whose hair does look red in certain lights. In addition, the as-yet-untitled series tapped executive producer Brooke Kennedy to direct the first episode. While Kennedy has directed TV before, Deadline alleges she’s only one of two female directors to helm a network drama pilot this season (meanwhile, at Netflix, Jessica Jones has faced that deficit head-on by hiring only women directors for season two). Bernadette Peters, The Good Wife, and feminism? Oh, my!
