As reported earlier this week, the city council of Chanhassen, Minnesota, unanimously voted in favor of rezoning the area around the late singer Prince’s home, so that it might permanently open as a museum. Well, today the museum officially opened its doors.

Rolling Stone reports that the Mayor of Chanhassen (with the very Parks-and-Rec-meets-Fargo name of Denny Laufenberger, gosh bless him) issued an official proclamation declaring October 28 “Paisley Park Day,” named after the Purple One’s moniker for his home and the grounds around it. The museum expects to attract about 600,000 visitors a year, many of whom will travel to view Prince’s remains, which are held onsite in an urn adorned with doves. Dearly beloved, indeed.
