How very. TV Line is reporting that TV Land's Heathers reboot — which reimagines the 1988 girl-murder cult classic and will anthologize it, Black Mirror–style, from season to season — has landed its Heathers. As first noted back in September, Leslye Headland (Sleeping With Other People) will direct the pilot episode, and the trio of eponymous meanies includes a black lesbian and one gender-queer member. We can now report who will be stepping into those roles: Melanie Fields (Broadway's Evita, among others) will play Queen Bee Heather Chandler; newcomer Jasmine Matthews is stepping into the aforementioned black lesbian, Heather McNamara; and comedian Branden Scannell (Funny or Die) will play gender-queer Heather Duke (formerly Heath). In the film, Duke was memorably inhabited by Ms. Shannen Doherty, so Mr. Scannell has some scary-awesome shoes to fill.
