Hamilton’s Brandon Victor Dixon Responds to Mike Pence: ‘Please, Come Have a Conversation With Us’

Vice-president-elect Mike Pence’s trip to Hamilton this Friday has become the focus of a nationwide conversation about art and activism, after he was booed by a few audience members during the performance and given a heartfelt speech by the cast after the show. Pence has said he “wasn’t offended” by the situation, but the news so angered President-elect Donald Trump that he demanded an apology, insisting the theater should be a safe space. Now, in an interview on CBS, Brandon Victor Dixon, who delivered the speech to Pence and plays one-time vice-president Aaron Burr, spoke about the cast’s message to the incoming vice-president, and extended an offer to Pence to reach out to the cast. “Please, come have a conversation with us,” Dixon said, noting that the cast wanted to “stand up and spread a message of love, of unity.”
