If there's anyone you want at the helm of your music biopic, Jamie Foxx is your guy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx has reached a deal with Marvin Gaye's family to produce a limited TV series on the Motown king. It's the first of its kind to be authorized by the very protective Gaye family — though many other big names have tried — and will be done in partnership with de Passe Entertainment's Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones, with full cooperation from Motown founder Berry Gordy. (Sony/ATV is also said to be in talks to grant the rights to use Gaye's music.) After winning a massive legal battle last year against Robin Thicke, Pharrell, and T.I. over plagiarizing Gaye's music in "Blurred Lines," the Gaye family has since warmed up to letting other people get creative with their father's work: Over the summer, Gaye's surviving kids and ex-wife also green-lit the first-ever authorized Gaye documentary. There's no word yet on whether Foxx, who famously played Ray Charles, will also play Gaye, but an Emmy would like real nice next to that Oscar.
