Eagle-eyed viewers watching Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks’ masterful performance of “Daddy Lessons” at the Country Music Association Awards earlier this week might’ve noticed a visibly unamused Kenny Chesney standing in a sea of movin’ and shakin’ audience members, seemingly not loving what was happening onstage. His Instagram and Twitter accounts were soon bombarded with an onslaught of bee 🐝 and lemon 🍋 emojis  à la a certain Becky — from the Beyhive, who were in full-on attack mode over the apparent slight. However, in a statement released by Chesney yesterday, the country superstar wants to make it clear that, actually, he’s a huge fan of Bey and really enjoyed the one-song gig. “I love Beyoncé. I loved her Super Bowl performance, her sense of how to make the music hit really hard and give it drama when she’s onstage,” he said. “The idea her fans were so quick to judge me, or know what I was thinking doesn’t feel like the woman I’ve always imagined Beyoncé to be — and honestly, the people who love her music, either.” And he would know, he has some pretty devoted fans, too.
