Underneath the warm familial fun of the Gilmore Girls revival’s first trailer, the sunny child labor of its second runs an undercurrent of dissatisfaction and despair. You know, like every time you go home to see your parents. While Lorelei questions her relationship with Luke and Emily grapples with being a widow, Rory struggles with her feelings of self-worth as an unemployed college grad living at home. Turns out, she’s not the only one. “You know about the 30-something gang?” Babette informs her in the show’s new trailer. “It’s a group of kids, all about your age. They’ve been to college, then out in the real world, and it spit them out like a stale piece of gum. And now they’re all back in their old rooms, like you.” How fitting that the show drops Friday, November 25, so you can watch it from your mom’s couch stuffed with turkey, Chinese, Greek, Italian, and, of course, hot dogs.
