Didn’t you hear? The Oscars love diversity now, and to prove it they’ve tapped just the second woman ever to help produce their next telecast. Variety reports that Jennifer Todd will team up with Michael De Luca to lead the 89th Annual Academy Awards. Both are film producers in their everyday lives, with De Luca having worked on pictures like Moneyball and Captain Phillips and Todd stewarding the Alice in Wonderland films. This will be the first time since 2007 that a female has produced an Oscar telecast, when the job was held by the late Laura Ziskin (who also produced in 2002). Now we wait and see if there will be any women in that best directing category.
