And the hits just keep on coming. Robert Redford has announced his intention to retire from acting. The news comes from a conversation Redford and his grandson had with the Walker Art Center, in which Redford says he’ll stop acting after he completes two final projects. Those projects are the romance Our Souls at Night, costarring Jane Fonda, and Old Man With a Gun, with Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek. After they’re done, Redford says, “Then I’m going to say, ‘Okay, that’s good-bye to all that.’” According to the star, the change comes as the mechanics of being in front of the camera grow tiresome. “I’m getting tired of acting. I’m an impatient person, so it’s hard for me to sit around and do take after take after take,” he explained. But hey, it ain’t all doom and gloom, as Redford isn’t stopping his creative endeavors altogether. He’ll continue to focus on directing and might even take up painting again. Happy trails to him!
