Ah, but for the days when David Frost’s deft ability was a necessary component to getting a shocking presidential soundbite like, “When the president does it, that means it is not illegal.” As Seth Meyers pointed out on Wednesday’s “A Closer Look,” Donald Trump very nearly had a Nixon moment of his own, saying “the president can’t have a conflict of interest,” except, you know, minus the subsequent ubiquitous outrage. And it’s a good thing he can’t, because otherwise Trump would be in for a whopper of a surprise.
