Like many of his fellow musicians before him, Jack White has officially thrown his jet-black pork-pie hat into the ring for Standing Rock. The singer/songwriter has employed his label Third Man Records and Third Man Books to help raise funding for, and spread the message of, Standing Rock’s Defenders of the Water School (Mní Wičhóni Nakíčižiŋ Owáyawa). Run by volunteers, the school aims to provide services to children ages seven to 13 while their families are encamped at the ongoing Dakota Access Pipeline protest. In addition to showcasing student work on the Third Man Books’ site, Third Man Records and the school have collaborated on a benefit T-shirt, the sale of which will assist the school in providing programming at South Dakota’s Očhéthi Šakówiŋ Camp. Proceeds from the shirt will be donated directly to the school.
