Fans of Marco Polo — the television series, not the pool game — should be ready for a blue-silk-free Christmas this year: Netflix has chosen not to renew the program for a third season. The series, which was a bit Game of Thrones meets a fever dream you had once during World History class, starred Lorenzo Richelmy as the young Italian hot shot (Marco Polo) hanging out with Mongol emperor Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong), while war and political intrigue ensue. Marco Polo received mixed reviews, but it’s big budget and stunning Malaysia setting earned it a fair amount of viewers in its first season. The second season, which dropped last July, did not make as large a splash.
