Donald Trump’s election is keeping RuPaul up at night. “Last night I woke up at 1:30 in the morning and I remembered what happened and I couldn’t get back to sleep,” RuPaul Charles told Vulture at the Critics’ Choice Awards, where both he and his show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, were nominated. The mother of drag queens has been vocal about the election, telling Vulture earlier this year that the choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was between a “badass bitch who knows how to get shit done” and a “pompous braggart who doesn’t know anything about diplomacy.”

So yes, the election is still weighing on Ru. “It’s sad. I’m still so heartbroken over it. It feels like the death of America,” RuPaul said. “The America that we have all fought so hard for, the narrative of love and peace and liberty and equality, it feels like it is dead.”
