It’s been three years since Wesley Snipes was released from federal prison after serving time for tax evasion, and, after bouncing around a bit, the actor has found a new purpose: world-building. According to Deadline, Snipes is writing a supernatural novel, with hopes to eventually launch a film adaptation. The book is called Talon of God and the premise is a doozy. Per Snipes: “There are spiritual warriors that inhabit this planet who are here to help balance out the evil forces, and they are always looking for the next apprentice. And when they find the next apprentice to train — the next heir apparent — then they can move on to the higher realms.” That’s the big picture, with the thriller focusing specifically on Lauren Jefferson, a young doctor who is chosen to fight that fight, and Talon Hunter, a spirit warrior. Snipes says the story centers particularly around a woman because he hopes to “bridge the gap in terms of equality of action content for women.” Snipes is co-writing the book with Ray Norman and describes its scope as having “an urban element, a hip-hop element, supernatural elements.” Harper Voyager will publish Talon of God July 25, because nothing says beach read like an apocalyptic battle to the death.
