Ever since Fox and Marvel announced last year that they were partnering up to put together an action-adventure TV series based on Marvel’s merry mutants in the X-Men, there’s been confusion about what, exactly, the show would be about. We still don’t exactly know, but we have a crucial clue. According to Deadline, Real World, Gotham, and Once Upon a Time alumna Jamie Chung will play the teleporting mutant known as Blink. This is a surprising development, given that the character is pretty obscure.

Blink is best known for leading a team of dimension-hopping heroes in an aughts series called Exiles, but it’s hard to imagine that story being adapted, as it involved a new alternate universe in every story arc. Then again, it worked for Sliders. If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because the hero had a memorable cameo in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she was played by Fan Bingbing and summarily executed by some Sentinels. Perhaps this is the same Blink, who survived in a parallel reality? In the comics, she’s not of East Asian descent, so it’s interesting that Fox has opted to put her in that category in her two screen incarnations. There’s still no word on the show’s title or how, exactly, it’ll fit into the X-Men cinematic universe, if at all.

This post has been updated with the correct spelling of Fan Bingbing’s name.
