Late Show Parodies New York Times Commercial With Its Own ‘Trump Is’ Ad

In a new promo, Stephen Colbert is reminding viewers that The Late Show will be live following President Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday evening, and presumably ready to break down his first-term equivalent of a State of the Union address. If the ad looks familiar, it’s because the New York Times ran a commercial during the Oscars in which the paper of record asserted its commitment to finding and reporting the truth, and Colbert pretty much just remade it with jokes — like the one where Colbert called Trump a “Willy Wonka who has been genetically cross-bred with a carnivorous Oompa Loompa.” That’s what happened to Willy Wonka? Talk about a good news scoop.
