The video for Grimes’s song “Venus Fly” is a fantastical, color-soaked adventure for us normals, but for Grimes and Janelle Monáe, it’s probably just a tame preview of the worlds they see themselves living in all the time. Both women look like they hail from warring factions in Alejandro Jodorowsky’s vision of Dune as they wield flaming swords, commune with giant bubbles, and serve so much face.
