Leslie Feist, better known simply as Feist, has been out of the public eye for a good while now, but a few days ago, she surfaced to announce the release of Pleasure, her first new album in almost six years. And today, as Pitchfork reports, she has released its eponymous first single. This is a more elemental, rhythm-driven, and less straightforwardly pop Ms. Feist — at least as far as this one track is concerned. In a tweet about the album’s title and vibe she said, “The experience of pleasure is mild or deep, sometimes temporal, sometimes a sort of low grade lasting, usually a motivator.” While mysterious and a little ephemeral, this description befits the material at hand. Have a listen and look for Feist’s fifth album to be released next month.
