Madonna Releases ‘Her-Story’ Short Film for International Women’s Day

Resistance is looking a lot chicer than pink hats in Madonna’s “Her-Story.” The short film, which Madonna released on International Women’s Day, sees the singer lead the feminist revolution over eight chapters. In it, Madonna starts off as the vision of authority, emerging from the mist with two attack dogs and a bad side you don’t want to get on. The narration intones, “Welcome to the revolution of love, to our refusal as women to accept this new age of tyranny, where not just women are in danger, but all marginalized people, where being uniquely different might truly be considered a crime. The revolution starts here.” The film, a production by photographers Luigi and Iango and Vogue Germany, features a banner declaring that “we should all be feminists,” ending with the message, “women’s rights are human rights.” Watch above.
